About magnesium malate
What it is
Malate is an organic magnesium salt, similar in elemental content to glycinate and citrate.
What the research says
There is little published human research comparing malate directly with other forms for absorption or outcomes. Marketing claims tied to malic acid’s role in energy metabolism are not the same as evidence that the supplement changes energy levels.
